Megavalanche Week
The Megavalanche week in Alpe d’Huez will run from the 12th to the 14th July 2013.
You can enter the event online at http://www.megavalanche.com/ . It should cost less than a 100 euros for the week. The price includes race entry and your lift pass for your time there.
Entries go online at the beginning of January. For the 2013 megavalanche you should be able to enter from January on the above website. In past years the organisers have made more spaces available once the initial batch have been sold.
You will be given a race number and your grid position at the Palais de Sport in Alpe d’Huez. If you have raced before or are a half descent named rider then you will be given front row status in one the qualifiers. For the rest of us it seems to be pot luck where you get placed.
The Megavalanche week also has a trade stand area in the cetnre of the town where its sponsors (and a few shops) will advertise and sell their stock. Brands like Hope and Fox and SRAM are usually there to help out on repairs etc.

Hi folks, we are so looking forward to the 2012 Mega, afer a very cautious 2011, we hope to blast down this time
What happened in 2011 to make it cautious? I did it in 2007 & 2008 and loved it.
I had only been MTBing a couple of years, but still managed it lol, loved every minute of it andmy first ever big event. We all just enjoyed the atmos and views……. and the biking, a great all round lads week!!
we have 1 spare space in the car if anyone fancies it???? give me a shout if you are interested!!!!
whats the chance of snow
Hi. I’m not racing the Mega, but a couple of my riding buddys are. I’m planning on coming out for the week and the race and riding with them during the practice runs on the tuesday to thursday??. As i’m not entered in the race is this still possible to ride the course on the practice days without having a entry number?? Will a Lapierre Zesty be enough of a bike for it???
Bike is fine. Its cheaper to get a weeks race entr
y pass than a weekly mtb pass so get the race entry and dont do the race
true just book the lot, and miss the race, practice run is fun, so are the DH routes, you will love it!!!!!!
But if you get a race entry, wont it take up a space for somebody else??
We’ve entered but ive had no e-mail confirmation or any other correspondence. Is this normal? Can you ride the full course in practice?
hi Jamie, yes you can check on the web now, your booking will be confirmed, just put the name you registered in, and it should come up, you can email them to ask, you collect your number and lift passes there on arrival, hope this helps.
Hi do any of you have an idea of what to expect at the top of pic blanc this year?? didit in 2010 and there was so much snow and last year ther was not one bit around… what does it look like this year if anyone knows cheers
Not been up there this year but we have had a good winter of snow so it should be fairly deep
